[You will find Robin waiting outside the bar, leaning against the wall with her arms folded. She looks faintly amused by something.]

[Whoops, he made her wait. He hurries up and waves, bowing his head a little.]

Heh heh, hey there, pretty lady. Sorry for makin' you wait.

[She shrugs lightly]

I wasn't waiting long. Shall we? [She gestures to the door]

Sure thing.

[He steps forward and gets the door for her.]

So what were ya' smiling 'bout earlier?

[Was she? She wasn't aware. She had been thinking about her nakama and the way it had felt to float down from Skypeia, watching the ocean spread out beneath them.]

[She sits at a nearby table toward the wall]

[He joins her after ordering two drinks from the bar.]

It is, I guess.

Uh...I dunno? It's kinda... [He sits down, rubbing the back of his neck.] Normal, I guess. Not like here. No people flyin' around or magic powers or talkin' animals or anything. Just people trying to get by. What about you?

Well, we do have people flying around and I suppose, your equivalent of magic and talking animals, but it's normal for us-- and we try to get by every day.

[She props her chin on her hands as she smiles at him.]

Is that what you did before you came here? Get by?

[The drinks come by and he sets hers in front of Robin, taking his and staring at it for a moment.]

...Somethin' like that.

[He almost frowns, but remembers that his company is pretty and deserves a smile. Which he gives to her as best as he can.]

So what'd you do back home, Nico-san? Bet you gotta beat the guys off with sticks, huh?

No, I prefer to break their spines.

[But she's teasing. Honestly.]

I'm an archaeologist by trade. [And a pirate, as well-- but there's no point in telling him that.] I hunt for ruins and read ancient languages. [And occasionally fight off monsters and pretend-gods. But that is more pleasure than business.

What do you do for fun?

[She sips her drink. It is a bit strong but fairly good.]

[Ahaha, insert some nervous laughter. Why are the women here so scary. D8

Archaeologist? Huh, sounds interestin'. Never heard of someone who does stuff like that.

I used ta' go out with my friends, hit the bars, tease the younger recruits, stuff like that. Sometimes had it out wit' 'em in the dojo and reminded 'em why I'm a captain. Was pretty awesome really. Oh! And I liked going around to the stores, too.

Can't really do that 'round here, but- [He shrugs and rolls the drink around in his hand.] -guess that isn't so bad. Didn't have a lot of down time back home.

So tell me more about these ruins and languages and stuff.

[The word 'captain' piques her interest and she wonders what he is captain of but decides to indulge his interest for the moment.]

The history of my world is told in runes called poneglyphs-- but most of them are hidden in secret places. A whole century of our history is missing completely from public knowledge.

[And in the discovery of that lies the answer--though she is becoming a little worried about what the question might be.]

A whole...century? [Heisuke blinks in disbelief.] How's something that big get covered up like that? Kinda hard to just...go missing, isn't it?

Mm. It would need something bigger to cover it up, ne? What do you think that could be?

[It's a question but not a question. She takes another sip of the drink then idly lets her fingers play around the rim of the glass.]

I dunno. Probably a war and someone wanted ta' get rid of unsavory things in the past. Stuff like that happens sometimes, though not for a whole century.

[Least not where he's from, but since she's posed the question, Heisuke tries to think of a reason. Why would an entire century just disappear? And a history written in pictures? Oh! OH HE'S GOT IT!]

I GOT IT! Maybe someone made a huge blanket!!
