It isn't fair. Why do they always get taken? Why isn't there anything we can do to stop this? I hate this place. ...But I know I can't leave. There isn't anywhere for me to go back to. Living here is cruel and I can't even tell them.

[She shrugs lightly]

I wasn't waiting long. Shall we? [She gestures to the door]

Sure thing.

[He steps forward and gets the door for her.]

So what were ya' smiling 'bout earlier?

[Was she? She wasn't aware. She had been thinking about her nakama and the way it had felt to float down from Skypeia, watching the ocean spread out beneath them.]

It's a nice night.

[She sits at a nearby table toward the wall]

[Charlotte yelps quietly and scurries behind Mikage's leg, huddling worriedly until Mikage crouches down to pat her head.]

Easy there! You've gotta take it slow, y'know. She's just a puppy!

Four armed demon spider-monkey.

[Oh yay, he waved back! Chuchu smiles now.]

Some call her an electric mouse, so I guess so! But from my world, she's just a Pokémon--A Pikachu, to be exact.

[And there's a shriek from said monkey in the background] These things do vids, right?

[He joins her after ordering two drinks from the bar.]

It is, I guess.

Uh...I dunno? It's kinda... [He sits down, rubbing the back of his neck.] Normal, I guess. Not like here. No people flyin' around or magic powers or talkin' animals or anything. Just people trying to get by. What about you?

Sorry! [He crouches down and holds out a hand, palm up, close to the ground so Elizabeth can sniff it if she wanted.]

Sorry, I've just never seen anything so cute before. We don't have dogs like these in my world.

Oh, her. [Um...] Sorry.

A Pikachu, huh? Chuchu the Pikachu. That's cute. Heya, little fellow.

Um, yeah?

[That shriek didn't sound so cute...]

[Well some fidangling later cute a vid of Gates eating... something which seems to have once been a piece of meet but now look like various pieces of pinkish red]

[She laughs a bit.] Haha, it's alright!

Yep, a Pikachu. A friend of mine who's also here, Red, has one too; his is a boy though. [Chuchu climbs down onto Yellow's shoulder.] She says hi, and that it's nice to meet you!

Well, we do have people flying around and I suppose, your equivalent of magic and talking animals, but it's normal for us-- and we try to get by every day.

[She props her chin on her hands as she smiles at him.]

Is that what you did before you came here? Get by?

[Elizabeth hesitates a moment, then, at Mikage's nudging, wanders out to sniff Heisuke's hand curiously.]

Really? What kind of dogs do you have then?

[He smiles when she comes closer, letting Elizabeth get used to him before he even thinks of moving.]

I dunno, the normal kind. No horns for one. Not a whole lotta different colors, either.

[His smile turns a bit wistful.]

I had one once. Not really a dog, to be truthful, but I had one once.

[The drinks come by and he sets hers in front of Robin, taking his and staring at it for a moment.]

...Somethin' like that.

[He almost frowns, but remembers that his company is pretty and deserves a smile. Which he gives to her as best as he can.]

So what'd you do back home, Nico-san? Bet you gotta beat the guys off with sticks, huh?

Whoa, you can talk to her? I didn't hear a thing!

....!!!!!!

[Not cute, NOT CUTE. WHAT IS THAT THING]

Mhhm! Well, kind of, anyway. She can't talk. But I can understand her thoughts as long as I'm touching her. If I'm not, then it's just a matter of reading her expression and body language. [Of course reading her thoughts is more accurate though, since it's not guessing and all.]

...Whoa, can you do that with anyone? That's kinda awesome.

Nope, just Pokémon like her. [Though she can heal both Pokémon and humans.] I guess it is pretty cool though.

[Elizabeth is quick to give affection, so after a couple of sniffs she starts giving Heisuke's hand a few licks (or a dozen). She's fair game for pettings now.]

You had one that wasn't really a dog? What does that mean?

[He smiles and pets her head, reaching out to pick her up.]

Turned out he was a wolf puppy, not a dog puppy. Took care of 'im the best I could, but he ran off one day.

[He smiles at Elizabeth, forcing himself to be more cheerful.]

But Elizabeth's much cuter. Aren't you, Lizzie?
