3rd Data Entry [voice / action]

[Heisuke has decided that his earlier attempts to contact the lightning spirit in the hot box failed because of one thing: A LACK OF SCIENCE. So now he will be 100% serious and scientific about recording this data and doing this right. To that end, he uses the journal to record his observations and calls the others in his house to come help him collect data.]

First experiment of the day: placing a spoon into the box and testing it for 30 seconds.

[The sound of him putting metal into the box and turning it on can be heard. ]

There appear to be sparks, but nothing significant....

[ooc; Heisuke has lost his sense of humor for the event, so he's going to be utterly serious about this. It's for SCIENCE.]

It isn't smoking.

[And he's completely serious about that. It can't be angry if it isn't smoking. He sits and watches the lightning for a bit and then looks to the counter.]

...Wonder if these would make larger sparks.

It isn't weird. I'm trying to contact the lightning spirit I summoned in here the other day.

It works better with larger things, however.

I can say I've heard of plenty weird summoning rituals, but.. putting spoons or whatever in boxes probably takes the cake here.

It's dangerous, so I wouldn't recommend it. But this seems to be the fastest way.

...It just also seems to catch fire sometimes.

Yeah, sure. I'll remember that next time I randomly feel like summoning a lightning spirit.

You might want to make sure you don't accidentally burn down your house in the process though.

It's just a fair warning. I can't say I'm too familiar with summoning spirits or whatever, but I doubt it's something worth losing your place to stay over.

[again aside to Tatsu, urgently] The problem is I can't think of anything to distract him with, at least not the...the way he is right now. If Nagakura-kun or Harada-kun were here, maybe.

...I don't know either. [Tatsu lowers his voice again, though he can't help but agree with Yamanami on their ineffectiveness to be distracting. And just why is Heisuke acting so oddly anyway?

There's no time to think about it though. Not before the phrase "bigger sparks" enters the conversation.]

No, Yamanami-san's right. We should be happy with small sparks! It's generous of the spirit to show us that much, isn't it?

........ [He hears you guys whispering behind his back, but he is more interested in the experiment right now. Instead, he removes the smaller bowl and takes out a bigger one, turning it over in his hands.] .................................

What if it's trying to speak and we aren't giving it a large enough vessel? That sounds right, doesn't it? "Vessel." Like they say at the shrines.

[Look at bowl, look at box, back to bowl. Bowl goes into box. He closes the door and starts pressing buttons to set the time.]

Thanks. Just trying to figure out how to talk the spirits here, that's all. I heard it was useful so I thought I'd try.

I heard that speaking to them could be useful and meditation was taking too long. This way, I can both see and hear the spirit right away. A shortcut, but a well-thought out one.

I have water nearby. And it's faster here. All I have to do is press a button and the spirit shows up. Efficient, right?

That's true.

But I took safety measures. I have towels and water and buckets. I made sure to remove anything flammable from the area as much as possible.

And the houses repair themselves from what I've heard.

I don't have the time to be patient. It's important I learn how to use this magic now.
